Cooling Water Treatment Overview

Protect against Scaling:
Scaling in Cooling Water Circuits is mainly caused by super saturation of scaling salts in the water. This can be caused by a number of variables, two of which are heat (heat exchanger) and evaporation/concentration of scaling salts (Open Recirculation Cooling Tower). Scaling in these two critical pieces of equipment can lead to major problems with your plant operation, resulting in increased energy costs, maintenance costs, emergency shutdowns and possible equipment failure.
G-CHEM’s 2000 Series deposition control products, use the latest PolySPERSE Technology in order to help maximize heat exchanger capacity/efficiency, resulting in optimum plant utilization.

Protection against Fouling:
Fouling is caused by the settling of insoluble solids i.e. dust, silt etc., in mainly low flow areas of cooling water circuits. This can result in reduced flowrates, heat exchange, under deposit corrosion which can lead to eventual equipment failure/lost production.
G CHEM uses two main methods of protecting your system against fouling – mechanical (filtration etc) and chemical, using our latest D-SPERSE Technology.

Inhibiting Corrosion:
Corrosion is, simply put, the irreversible conversion of metals to their natural state. Metal surfaces are irreversibly damaged and cannot be returned to their normal state. It can lead to catastrophic failure of equipment resulting in plant downtime.
Cooling water circuits offer the ideal environment for corrosion to take place. G-CHEM’s 3000 Series corrosion inhibition programs offer system protection over a broad pH range, ensuring optimum results even under the most harsh conditions.

Inhibit biofouling and microbiologically-induced corrosion (MIC):
Cooling Water systems are ideal environments for microbiological activity including both planktonic and sessile growth. Without a microbiological control program, this growth can result in major health hazards, corrosion, fouling and other efficiency issues that can cause equipment failure, unscheduled downtime, reduced heat transfer, lost production, and increased risk of Legionella.
G CHEM offers a broad RANGE of oxidizing and non-oxidizing biocides as well as biodispersants to treat and protect cooling systems from a variety of micro-organisms and microbiological growth.
